Your journal and photos

My Furry Pals stores the information you enter — including your dog profile, dog-friend names, notes, encounters, meeting dates, saved place labels or coordinates, preferences, original photos, and generated stickers — locally on your device. You do not need a ForgeLyte email-and-password account to start journaling.

Original photos you capture or select are kept in the app’s local file storage on your iPhone. They are not uploaded to ForgeLyte as a cloud photo library, are excluded from iCloud sync, and are not sent to TelemetryDeck or RevenueCat. A resized copy leaves the device only when you explicitly use an AI feature, as described below.

Pseudonymous service identity and backend records

To verify App Store purchases, deliver Sticker Credits, and safely resume sticker jobs, the app uses a pseudonymous customer identifier derived from either a verified App Store transaction or a random per-install identifier. That identifier is used with our backend and RevenueCat. It is not your name or email address.

Our backend may keep limited operational records tied to that identifier, including welcome-credit status, Sticker Credit and entitlement activity, sticker job IDs and status, purchase or refund events, product and transaction identifiers, and fraud-prevention flags. Separate coarse AI performance records include details such as request type, success or failure category, duration, image byte count, model, and quality; those metrics are not stored with the customer identifier.

AI features and photo processing

Only when you ask Lucky for a possible breed estimate or a sticker does the app send a resized and compressed copy of the selected image to our Vercel-hosted API. The API sends that copy to OpenAI to complete the request. ForgeLyte does not keep the input image in its application database or Vercel Blob as a permanent photo library.

Possible breed estimates use OpenAI’s Responses API with its default storage setting. OpenAI states that the resulting response data is stored as application state for at least 30 days under that setting. Sticker generation uses OpenAI’s Images Edit endpoint, which does not retain application state by default.

Separately, OpenAI’s default abuse-monitoring logs may contain API customer content, including inputs and outputs, for up to 30 days. Longer retention may apply when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect OpenAI’s services or third parties. Image inputs are also scanned for potential child sexual abuse material; a flagged image may be retained for manual review. OpenAI does not use API data to train its models by default. A finished sticker may be held in private Vercel Blob storage so the app can recover it after a dropped connection. The recovery job expires after one hour. The app asks the backend to delete the temporary copy when local saving is confirmed; deletion is best-effort. Expired copies are also removed when later job cleanup runs, so job expiration is not a guaranteed deletion deadline. The saved sticker remains on your device and may sync to your private iCloud with Pro.

Private iCloud sync (Furry Pals Pro)

With Furry Pals Pro, journal data and generated sticker assets can sync through Apple’s private iCloud / CloudKit database associated with your Apple ID. It is not a public social feed. Original photos remain excluded from iCloud sync and stay on the device where they were saved. Apple processes and retains iCloud data under your Apple account and Apple’s terms.

Purchases and sticker credits

If you purchase Furry Pals Pro, sticker credit packs, or other in-app products, Apple processes the transaction. My Furry Pals uses RevenueCat to validate purchases, manage entitlements, restore purchases, and track Sticker Credits. RevenueCat and our backend process the pseudonymous customer identifier, product and transaction identifiers, purchase and subscription history, entitlement status, Sticker Credit balances and adjustments, refund events, and technical metadata used to provide those services.

We do not intentionally provide RevenueCat with your name, email address, dog photos, journal notes, place history, or precise location.

Refund consumption information

By making an in-app purchase, you agree that information about delivery and use of purchased content may be shared with Apple through RevenueCat to help Apple decide refund requests. This can include whether Sticker Credits were delivered and how many stickers were confirmed. We share this information only for purchase and refund handling.

Unused Sticker Credits from a refunded purchase may be removed from your balance. Stickers already saved on your device are not automatically deleted when Apple issues a refund.

Pseudonymous product analytics

My Furry Pals uses TelemetryDeck to understand feature reliability and general product use — for example, whether onboarding finished, whether an AI request succeeded or failed with a coarse reason code, or whether a paywall was shown. App events use fixed categories, booleans, and duration or count buckets.

TelemetryDeck also processes a hashed device-level identifier, a session identifier, and standard app or device metadata such as app and build version, device and OS information, language, locale or region, time zone, display or accessibility settings, and session-use metrics. We do not send dog names, photo content, notes, place labels, coordinates, or RevenueCat customer identifiers to TelemetryDeck. It is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Location

Location is optional. If you choose “Use Current Location” while logging an encounter, iOS obtains a one-time location and Apple’s geocoding service may process it to return a place label. If you enter or look up a place manually, that text may also be sent to Apple’s geocoding service to create a map pin, even if you did not grant current-location access.

Saved place labels or coordinates stay in your local journal and, with Pro, may sync through private CloudKit. They are not sent to TelemetryDeck or to the AI backend.

Website and support messages

The My Furry Pals website does not use an advertising or product-analytics tracker. Vercel processes standard network and request information needed to deliver and secure the website, such as IP address, browser or user agent, requested route, timestamps, and operational logs.

If you email support or feedback, ForgeLyte receives your email address, message, attachments, and any device details or pseudonymous RevenueCat Customer ID you choose to include. We use that information to answer your request and troubleshoot the issue.

Retention, deletion, and your choices

Local journal data remains on your device until you delete the relevant friend or encounter, remove the app and its data, or otherwise erase the device data. Deleting a friend removes that friend’s local record and associated local images; the app also requests deletion of associated private CloudKit sticker records where applicable. Apple controls iCloud retention and synchronization.

Backend credit, purchase, refund, job, fraud-prevention, and operational records may be kept for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, prevent duplicate promotions or abuse, resolve purchases and refunds, meet legal obligations, and maintain security. Service providers keep their records according to their own policies.

You can use the core journal without using AI features, granting current-location access, or purchasing Pro. Apple manages App Store billing, refunds, and subscription cancellation. To ask about access, correction, or deletion of backend records, email us and include the RevenueCat Customer ID shown in the app’s Settings when available. We may need to keep records required for security, refunds, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
